I have been through hell, so have a lot of my teammates. Some of us are still in the Battle or concerned it will start again. But we are still here paddling our hearts out! This outstanding organization has helped me rebuild after a painstakingly long and arduous battle. I was in treatment for almost 5 years with all the bumps, setbacks, etc. Hope Chest has given me a new lease on life and I cannot thank them enough. These ladies put in so much of their personal time to run the team/festival and Coach Anne has done a fantastic job building the team/paddling program. I am sooooooooooooooooooo very grateful to and in awe of Hope Chest for so many things (exercise, nutrition, paddling, support, and a whole bunch of new buddies)! It truly is a sisterhood and the best thing to come out of my battle. From hearing the words "you have cancer" and thinking I am dying, to now years later stronger than I ever imagined I would be after it all. As our Fitness Director Dawn Mack says, it is not the Fall, it is the comeback (not sure if that is someone else's quote - so please attribute it properly - I think Confucius is one) - and that is the truth. Here we are coming back strong, bonded, and supported. Please help Hope Chest - if so inclined, please donate what you can. This is not a fluff organization, this is a "get it done" organization. And...they have done just so much for me.
